EcoConsult has been established as a joint venture between Ecopia PLC and independent experts. EcoConsult draws upon the extensive professional experience of its consultants and Ecopia PLCs considerable knowledge of the challenges of sustainable and organic agriculture in an Ethiopian context.
EcoConsult’s mission is to inspire and support business development to solve Ethiopia’s most pressing problems: making poverty a thing of the past and preserving ecosystems for the future.
In our projects, we build, share and apply knowledge to develop, implement and grow inclusive business models for sustainable development.

Environment and Agriculture
Sustainable agriculture design including integrated fisheries, biodynamic methods, composting and permaculture design; energy and water efficiency; carbon bargaining; environmental business development; ecotourism and sustainable building methods
Emily Henehan has a strong background and academic knowledge of Environmental Management and has managed a wide range of environmental projects in the UK, with the government and as a freelance consultant. She is currently undertaking a permaculture diploma and academic research with University of London in sustainable agriculture, and is developing new business areas in permaculture and ecotourism.
Marketing & Business Development
Accessing national and international markets, sales and distribution, product development, branding, value-chain development; business planning; cross-sector partnerships; organizational development.
Rutha Tsegai holds a Masters in International Business and has been working in value-chain development, incubation in rural Ethiopia as well as accessing domestic and interantional markets with Ecopia PLC for the past two years. She has gained international experience in the private sector in addition to development agencies such as GIZ.
Environmental Technology
Biogas systems, solar PV, solar thermal, micro-hydro, combined heat & power (CHP), wind turbines, conversion to sustainable biofuels (engines and generators).
Max Werny holds a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, and has worked in the field for over ten years.
